10 years to pull the trigger

Here I am, boarding a group tour bus in Rome, heading towards Florence — a place my soul has wanted to come back to since I had the most magical time there four years ago.

I've been in Rome for nearly a week. Sweltering hot, full of yummy street food, and lots of strolling down memory lane.

Italy is very special to me. Some of my family lineage is from here. My astrology points to a lot of joy and romance happening here — and that's proven true in the past. And there's something quietly meaningful about being the first in my immediate family to visit.

Italy has been present in my mind and soul for close to 15 years. The first ten of those years, I was too afraid to go alone and didn't have an aligned travel buddy. So year after year, I studied flight prices and researched the best times to go — and never pulled the trigger. Too scared to go by myself.

A lot had to happen before I finally made it in 2022. A huge spiritual awakening. My first Europe trip with my dad in 2019 to build the confidence of being here. And the courage to invest in a Rick Steves group tour (10/10, by the way).

That trip was magical. New friends. New foods. Falling in love in so many ways.

There was also a divine manifestation in there — I told my manager at my Wells Fargo job to lay me off, because I wanted to pursue coaching full time. Six months later, four days before I left for Italy, I got my severance package. It was an incredible celebration. I'm still kicking myself for not staying an extra week.

So here I am again. And this time, the delay wasn't about finding someone to travel with.

It was money.

I'll share what finally got me on the plane in the next email on Tuesday, 09/15!

Three words I wouldn't have said a year ago. Someone close to me made a teasing comment the other day — nothing dramatic, just a small jab. And instead of doing what I would have done for most of my life — swallowing it, telling myself it didn't matter, convincing myself that saying something would just make things worse — I just said it. Ouch, that hurt. No explosion. No shutdown. Just a simple, grounded truth. What surprised me wasn't their reaction. It was mine. There was no shutdown, no...

I came back to Italy for the first time in four years. The last time I was here, I left a little heartbroken about it — romanticizing the cobblestone streets, the light in Florence, the feeling that maybe I was supposed to live here someday. Italy felt like the life I could have if I were brave enough to reach for it. This time, something was different. The streets are just as beautiful. The food is still extraordinary. But the ache I used to feel here — that longing for a different life —...

As I sit here in Vicenza, Italy — a town I never intended to come to — I'm reminded of the magic that becomes possible when we truly believe we deserve what we're asking for. Part of my dream for this trip was to experience co-living — to spend time with my people and live like a local rather than a tourist. Several months back, I put the ask out in a Telegram group for a personal growth community I'm involved with. No one responded for months. Admittedly, I started to lose hope. It looked...
